Shigatse prefecture (གཞི་ཀ་རྩེ།) is the central prefecture of Tibet. The area is traditionally known as Tsang. Bordering Lhasa and Lhokha on the east, Nepal on the south, Ngari prefecture on the west and Nagqu Prefecture on North. Ngari Prefecture (མངའ་རིས།) is located in the Western Tibet Autonomous Region, It borders Nepal, India, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to North, Shigatse Prefecture to south. The region covers the total area of 310,000 sq Kilometers.

Lhoka Prefecture is also called as Shannan Prefecture. The prefecture covers an area of 79700 square Kilometers. It is located on the south of Lhasa Prefecture, west of Nyintri Prefecture, east of Shigatse prefecture and north of Bhutan and India. The topography averages at 3700 Meters above sea level, making it lower than the Lhasa and Shigatse prefecture. The population of the Tsedang city was 330,100 in the year 2007.
